A fire was deliberately started in a bin store during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Firefighters from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to Pier Street in Burnham-on-Sea just before 2.15am.
The organisation was contacted by an alarm monitoring company and a crew from Burnham initially attended, before a back-up team from Bridgwater was also dispatched to the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.
“There was 20 per cent heat and smoke damage to the bin store and this fire was started deliberately.”
Avon and Somerset Constabulary has been informed of the incident.
