Highbridge foodbank is appealing for more donations after a surge in demand for its emergency food parcels over the past few weeks.

Burnham and Highbridge foodbank, in Church Street, is now struggling to keep up with the needs of people in the area.

Foodbank trustee Beverley Milner Simonds said: “Demand has doubled in recent weeks and donations are now not matching local need.

“People are urged to bring in-date supplies to the foodbank.

“Every week the foodbank provides half a tonne of food to those in need in the local area.”
