DOZENS of homes and a community garden are earmarked for an allotment site on Weston's Bournville estate.Owners Weston Town Council wants to sell a 1.5 hectare derelict site behind Windwhistle Primary School to developers to build 60 homes.Noise and wildlife surveys have been carried out and the council will apply to North Somerset Council for outline planning permission during the next two months.Representatives from the For All Healthy Living Centre have met with council bosses to discuss plans to build a community garden for the estates on the land. The town council wants the 0.35hectare garden to be paid for by the developers who build the homes.Jenny Hendy, project director at the For All Healthy Living Centre, said: "We want to put in raised flower beds and an enclosed area for people to grow fruit and vegetables, but further details have not been discussed."The agreement with possible developers has not been discussed yet and we don't know if it includes set up costs or just the use of the land."Town council leader Robert Payne said making the garden a condition of the sale was the most beneficial way to deal with the site.He said: "I think the scheme they have got in mind for a community garden is a good one."The space for the garden would be a definite condition of a sale to developers.
