Firefighters tackle late-night ‘accidental’ blaze

Three firefighting teams were called to a garage fire late last night (Sunday).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service teams from Cheddar and Wells were dispatched at 9.28pm.

They were sent to Wideatts Road, in Cheddar, following the emergency call-out.

A spokesman said: “All persons were out of the property (when we arrived).

“Crews arrived on scene and got to work with two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet extinguishing the fire.

“Crews isolated the electrics and gas in the property.

“The fire was extinguished and the cause was deemed to be accidental.”
