A HAPPY Locking couple have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
George and Peggie Findlay marked the occasion at their Byron Close home and with a meal at the Beachlands Hotel, in Uphill Road North, on July 28.
The devoted pair, both aged 86, were married in Douglas Water, Scotland, in 1950 after meeting at a military dance.
Peggie said: “We always say it’s being caring, unselfish and respecting one another that’s keptus together and that’s why we’ve had a happy marriage.
“We hope to be around together for many years to come.”
The couple first got together at a military dance in Scotland, at which George was playing a tenor sax.
George went on to become an aircraft engineer and trained apprentices at Bristol Aerojet for more than 30 years.
Peggie worked for many years as families officer on RAF Locking.
They have three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
