WITNESSES are being sought after an attempted robbery from a shop in Weston.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary are appealing for information after the shop, in Loxton Road, was targeted by a would-be thief at around 7.55pm on January 15.

The man, dressed in black from head to foot, came into the store and pushed the shop worker out of the way to take cigarettes from behind the counter, but was thwarted by the employee’s bravery.

DC Phil Hockey said: “The teenage shop worker confronted the would-be thief who made off empty-handed towards Williton Crescent. The employee was shaken by the incident.

“We’re keen to trace a couple of young men who were customers in the shop at the time as well as anyone else who has any information which could help our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting crime reference 5153/15. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
