A 'DISTRESSED' woman was rescued from the top of a six-storey block of flats in Weston.

A ‘DISTRESSED’ woman was rescued from the top of a six-storey block of flats in Weston.

Two fire engines and several ambulances and police cars arrived at Cedar Court in Grove Park Road this afternoon (Tues), after concerns were raised about a young woman on the roof of the building.

A trained police negotiator managed to coax the woman off the roof and the scene was cleared by about 4pm, with the woman taken to Weston General Hospital.

A Cedar Court resident said: “She started off with one foot dangling over the edge of the building, and then she had both off.

“Someone was up there talking to her, trying to get her down, and they eventually managed to get her down.”

Another resident, Ed Curd, said: “They even had the fire brigade’s cherrypicker here, but luckily they got her down and took her to an ambulance. She looked very distressed.”
