ONE lane of the northbound M5 slip road at Weston's junction 21 will be closed for seven weeks.

Junction improvements are a key part of the multi-million pound Weston Package, which involves a number of transport improvements around the town.

The slip road will close on July 8 to give workers safe space to work while motorway access is expanded.

The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until August 22.

A North Somerset Council spokesman said: “Figures show this is the quietest time for travellers using this slip road, which is why the work will be carried out during July and August, but commuters are advised to come off at junction 22 if possible as some disruption is expected.”
