RESCUE dog Monty the bull mastiff cross is looking for a new owner - and they must like the water.One-year-old Monty, who currently lives at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Barrow Gurney, is currently undergoing hydrotherapy treatment twice weekly in a bid to help ease a problem with his hips.Monty has hip displacia and each week travels with members of staff from the sanctuary to a specialist hydrotherapy pool at Temple Cloud to undergo a range of exercises.He puts on a special doggie swimming suit and sits in a harness while a therapist takes him through a number of water based exercises to strengthen his hip muscles and joint.Holly Hedge spokesman Pauline Leeson said: "Monty is a lovely dog and would make someone a great pet."He has a fantastic nature."Mrs Leeson said the sanctuary would continue to pay any vets bills for treatment for his bad hip for the new owner.She added: "Monty goes twice a week for his hydrotherapy treatment and really enjoys it and has been coming on in leaps and bounds."His new owner must be prepared to take him to the centre twice a week so he can continue his treatment."He needs a home perhaps with older children and, because of his condition, only needs short walks."Anyone who can give Monty a home should contact Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary on 01275 474719.* The sanctuary is also holding a night of big band music at Pill Memorial Club to raise money towards a new £250,000 kennel block.The event is on November 17 and tickets are £10 which includes a buffet.
