Health services in Weston-super-Mare's town centre could be moved under one roof as part of the area's regeneration.
Thousands of new homes are planned for the town, with planners hopeful it will lead to more money being spent in Weston businesses.
Weston Town Councillor Robert Payne said: “I am very enthusiastic about the proposals.
“But it concerns me it is predominantly about getting more people to live in the town centre without the community facilities they rely on.”
David Carter, North Somerset Council’s director of development, said he was ‘acutely aware’ of the problem.
He said: “We are working extremely hard with primary care providers to find a way of corralling interest in one location, to have a doctors, dentist, pharmacy and children’s centre in the same place.”
He said a third party could lease the building to run the health services.
