FIRE crews were called out to rescue a dog which was trapped on a 30 metre cliff yesterday (Wed).

Crews from Winscombe and Temple were called to Sladers Leigh, in Bridgwater Road, Winscombe just after 3pm to reports of a springer spaniel stuck above a disused railway line.

The dog’s owner had been rescued by police prior to the firefighters’ arrival.

When the teams arrived they found the dog trapped on a ledge 20 feet down and a rope rescue unit successfully recovered the animal which was not injured.
