DOGS have been banned from Weston's new Grand Pier following complaints from visitors with children.

The animals were previously allowed in the outdoor areas of the seafront attraction, but now they will not be allowed anywhere on the £51million landmark.

Pier co-owner Kerry Michael said: “Despite being dog lovers ourselves, regrettably we have had no alternative but to ban them from the pier on hygiene grounds and because people are leaving dogs tied up unattended.

“They are also being taken into the pavilion and we cannot police that.”
