Dog warden patrols are increasing in Cheddar

CHEDDAR’S dog warden has stepped up patrols in the village after the parish council and sports clubs in the area raised concerns about dog fouling.

They have been working together to raise awareness of the need for dog walkers to clean up after their pets – particularly in play areas.

The warden has increased patrols at both Sharpham Road playing fields and Hannah More Park, and a dog owner was recently handed a fixed penalty notice.

A spokesman for Cheddar Parish Council said: “The council is surprised how many dog owners still appear to be ignorant of the law and wants to send a clear message to owners that they have a legal duty to clean-up after their dogs in public areas.”
