Weston’s RNLI may have had a busy weekend in terms of call-outs but it also received a welcome donation from a visiting motorcycle club.

On Sunday, in between various call-outs, the organisation was visited by Bath Classic Motorcyle Club.

The club visits RNLI stations across the country and on its first visit to Weston, donated £620 to the life-saving organisation.

The Bath-based club has been touring stations for more than 20 years and Mike Buckland of Weston RNLI expressed his gratitude for the donation.

He said: “We can only carry out our role of saving lives at sea thanks to the generosity of people like the Bath Classic Motorcycle club.

“I want to thank them very much indeed.”

Richard Spindler, lifeboat operations manager at Weston said: “This was one of the busiest weekends for some time. We are pleased no-one came to significant harm.”
