THOUSANDS of pounds worth of cannabis plants have been seized by police in a drugs raid in Weston.

More than 100 plants were found in a flat in Sunnyside Road, with remnants of stalks and leaves discarded in six black bin liners in the kitchen.

A 29-year-old white male has been taken into custody to help police with their enquiries.

The plants will be taken for sampling and will then be destroyed.

Policed carried out the raid following anonymous information leading to the search.

Sergeant Colin Batchelor said: “It is good to be able to find these crops.

“We have done a few and this again is information from the public, where we got a warrant from the courts and this is our result.”

PC Andy Vallender explained there is £2,000 worth of equipment in the property being used to grow the crops.
