YOUNGSTERS in Axbridge have been verbally abusing residents and drinking alcohol on The Furlong.

Youths have been gathering on the green or under the stone archway in Knightstone Road when it rains and upsetting residents with excess noise and antisocial behaviour.

Police community support officer (PCSO) Julie Lewis said: "A number of people have complained to the police about antisocial behaviour on The Furlong because some youngster have been getting verbally abusive.

"There's also a big problem in Orchard Road and Knightstone Close. We are reminding people to call the Antisocial Behaviour Hotline if they experience any trouble."

Julie has been visiting the parents of youngsters who have been involved in antisocial behaviour.

She will also be testing youngsters' with new tester strips to make sure they are not drinking alcohol if they are underage and moving youngsters out of the park after dark.
