THE peculiar sight of 1,000 yellow plastic ducks may have taken visitors to Congresbury by surprise at the weekend.
The brightly-coloured ducks were poured into the River Yeo from the bridge over the A370 at the Wrington Vale Rotary Club fundraiser.
Strong winds and currents forced organisers to reverse the 100-metre course at the last minute but they failed to spoil Sunday’s entertainment.
A post-race barbecue, marquee and games were held at the nearby Plough Inn and helped the Burrington-based Lions group to raise about £1,400 for heart charities in Weston and Bristol.
