The eco loo opening

THE Banwell Allotment Society has opened its new eco loo.

The compost toilet turns human waste into organic matter which can be used on the allotments as a diluted liquid feed or added to compost heaps to improve the soil.

Landowner Robert Lovell cut the ribbon, which was made from recycled toilet tissue.

The idea for the waterless loo came about as there were no toilet facilities and no access to mains water.
