HAPPINESS and sighs of relief were everywhere at Churchill Academy this morning (Thursday) as Year 13 received their A-level exam results.

Most students attained their target grades and 37 per cent managed to surpass them.

Nearly 20 per cent of all grades were A* to A and half of the year group’s grades were an A*, A or B.

74 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades.

Headteacher Dr Barry Wratten said: “With the recent national squeeze on A-levels it is reassuring Churchill has maintained its very high standards.

“A high overall pass rate and good proportions of top grades reflect very well on the dedication of these students and their teachers.

“I think they have done brilliantly in reaching their various targets.

“We have had some great, great results this year, which is very pleasing because this year group have been a lovely bunch and an absolute pleasure to have around.

“They have given so much to the school and it’s good to see them get their much deserved rewards.

“I wish them all great success and happiness in the future.”

University, apprenticeships and gap years are just some of the pathways the students will be embarking on.
