WESTON College has been shortlisted for two honours at an awards night hosted by The Times Educational Supplement (TES).

The Further Education Awards mark the achievements of the very best schools and colleges in the UK and Weston College has been shortlisted for the college of the year and FE leader of the year awards.

The first category reflects the college’s growth since the early 2000s and its outstanding grade from Ofsted in December 2013.

The FE leader of the year category recognises the achievements of principal Paul Phillips, who has transformed the college to one with a turnover of more than £50million.

The awards ceremony will be held in London on February 27.

The citation for the leader category says: “Dr Phillips personally ensures all learners come first within the college and that there is a can-do attitude from everyone – governors, staff, contractors and learners. Second best for the learner is not acceptable.”

Dr Phillips said: “To be nominated for two categories at the TES FE Awards is a great honour and reflects the achievements of all staff and learners who have travelled with us on the road to outstanding success.”
