MULTI-talented performers from South Africa visited pupils to spread awareness of HIV and to raise money for charity through dance, drama and music.
The group known as Zakhele spent time with year 10 students in workshops sharing some of the alarming stories from South Africa about loss in families and communities due to HIV and AIDS.
Zakhele was also looking to raise money for the Za Foundation, a local charity supporting education based projects in South Africa
The performers then held a concert in partnership with students from the academy, which saw them dressed in national costume.
Pauline Trapp, assistant headteacher said: “The visit by Zakhele has had high impact with our students and has been a humbling and joyous experience.
“Thank you to Zakhele and to the Za Foundation, as well as to everyone who supported our concert.”
