A NEW sixth form centre extension has been opened at an academy school this week.
John Penrose MP officially opened the 250,000 building at Churchill Academy and Sixth Form Centre on Friday which will give the school an extra four new classrooms.
In November the idea was criticised by Churchill Parish Council after calls for the money to be spent on developing the car park instead. But headteacher Barry Wratten was adamant that the money should be put towards providing the pupils with better educational resources, with the number of A-level students set to rise from its current 260 in the near future.
