A WESTON secondary school is appealing for sponsorship – for its chickens.

Hans Price Academy in Marchfields Way is putting eight of the animals up for adoption to raise money for its garden project, designed to teach students where their food comes from.

The academy is now asking for businesses, students and parents to adopt a chicken at 5 per year.

Sponsors receive a certificate of adoption, a signed photograph of the bird and visitation rights – as well as access to chicken updates via their Facebook page.

Loves Caf in Weston has already signed up to adopt a bird.

Owner Anna Southwell said: “I think it’s great that students are seeing a direct link between the quality of the food they eat and the treatment of the animals that produce it.”
