CHILDREN at Hugh Sexey Middle School, in Blackford, cleared out their closets to raise money through a clothing collection day.
In conjunction with Bristol Textile Recycling, the school council took on the project to help raise money for its own budget.
Pupils collected second-hand clothing, bedding, curtains, footwear, belts and handbags to sell on to traders in third world countries, who can in turn sell them to earn money for their families.
With support from the school’s community, the children raised 272.
The school council is now looking to create a mural in the playground with graffiti art and some of the money raised will go towards this project.
