A SOMERSET school will be transformed into a magical world next month for charity.
The Kings of Wessex Academy in Station Road, Cheddar, will become an ‘Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ for this year’s charities week on the theme of Harry Potter.
Events themed around the boy wizard will be held at the school throughout the week starting December 5.
There will be ‘catching the golden snitch’ (egg throwing), as well as a parents’ fun evening and students dressing in magical garments.
The events are being held for charities Merlin, which provides emergency medical aid worldwide, Make a Wish UK, a charity which grants wishes to terminally ill children, and Freewheelers, a local organ and blood transportation service.
Kings and Queens news team reporters Isaac Taschimowitz said: “Every year Kings raises around 10,000 and the Senior Team hope this year’s Charities Week will enjoy exceptional success, inspiring students and future senior student teams to further this magical tradition.”
An evening for parents to come along and experience the magic will be held on December 8 at 7pm at the school.
