Students were bursting with joy and overwhelmed with relief when they received their A-level results this morning (Thursday).
Churchill Academy and Sixth Form revealed a fifth of students achieved A*-A grades, while nearly half of those taking A-level exams gained A*-B.
The academy also reported a more than 99 per cent pass rate for A-level results this year.
Student Alice Vaughn won a place at Oxford University to study psychology.
She said: "I'm in shock, I didn't expect to get these results.
"Now we've got the security, we can start to plan our lives at university."
Alice achieved an A* in psychology, biology and an A in chemistry.
Another dedicated student, Callum Leishman, achieved A grades in maths, physics and economics.
He said "I've always wanted to be an engineer, and I went to various open days and took on a lot of work placements to secure my place at Southampton University.
"I can't wait to meet people there and become more independent."
Headteacher at the academy, Chris Hildrew, said: "This is an excellent set of results, which have given the class of 2019 a superb launch-pad for so many exciting futures.
"I am particularly proud of the teamwork from staff and students which has led to this success, which is the result of consistent, hard work and effort over time.
"This set of results is confirmation of the commitment that Churchill has to offer a broad range of subjects at A-level, including creative and academic options, so that students can choose the combination which is right for them.
"I wish our students every success as they take their next steps beyond Churchill."
