King Alfred School,in Highbridge, has been celebrating today (Thursday) after it enjoyed top A-level results, with a 100 per cent pass rate.

Headteacher Denise Hurr told the Mercury she is ‘really proud’ of the results.

She said: “I am pleased with the results as the students have worked so hard. There have been a few exceptional results.

“I have only had one person upset so far and I have just told them to not worry and to log on to UCAS and see. There are other options and we have to remember it is not the end of the world.

“It looks to be a similar set of results to last year, which is really positive.”

All students at the schools secured grades from A*-E.

It has also been revealed 69 per cent of students achieved a grade A*-C and 18 per cent of students secured top marks with A and A* grades.

Students from King Alfred have secured university places such as Oxford, Exeter, Kent, Sheffield, Leeds, Sussex, Cardiff, Southampton, UCL and Imperial College, London.
