THE opening night of Bath's International Music Festival saw Churchill Academy's gospel choir perform in front of a packed audience.
Frank Kohler, the show’s organiser, heaped praise on the Youthful Spirit choir.
He said: “They were undoubtedly the outstanding performance of the night
“They had the audience enthralled and enraptured with their enthusiasm, drive, skill and harmony - greatly enhanced by their amazing band.
“They left the church, with the audience asking when they could see and listen to them again. The audience were blown away by their youthful spirit.”
The choir, which has run for 16 years, performed at Wells Cathedral recently when the Bishop of Bath and Wells, Peter Price, retired.
Alison Cooper-White, director of music at Churchill Academy, said “We were thrilled to be invited to perform at such a vibrant event.
“It was an honour to be singing alongside three adult choirs and our students certainly rose to the occasion, giving a stunning performance.”
Youthful Spirit will soon be travelling to Austria for their annual gospel choir tour where they will be performing to an audience of over 1,000 in four different venues in Carinthia.
