VILLAGERS in Winscombe braved wind and rain to enjoy the primary school fete on Saturday.

The event at the school in Moorham Road was organised by its parents and teachers association to raise funds for more equipment.

Among the activities enjoyed by residents was a coconut shy, Olympic-themed sporting games, live music, face-painting and in honour of Father’s Day youngsters had the chance to soak their dads with a wet sponge.

Organiser Sally Romeo said the event had raised more than £2,700, saying: “It was a very successful day.

“The rain held off quite well in the end, and as we had moved quite a lot of it inside the school people were able to really enjoy it, as well as having some events outside on the school field.”
