University Centre Weston (UCW) students have been busy channelling their creativity, and have created a living art sculpture for a Burnham park.

The sculpture was unveiled last week at Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park by Mike Creswell, the chairman of Sedgemoor District
Council.

It was designed and constructed by UCW students who are studying contemporary arts and professional studies.

More than 500 bricks were used thanks to a donation from Ibstock Bricks of Almondsbury and the students were told to keep in mind Somerset’s industrial heritage when working on the project.

UCW lecturer Ian Shipton said: “This was a great opportunity for our
students and they got valuable professional experience.

“The piece fits in perfectly with its landscape, and we hope it is going to become home to plants and wildlife and enjoyed for many years to come.”
