An Arctic explorer visited a Worle school to deliver workshops about his adventures and taught the pupils how to survive and travel in freezing temperatures.

Worle Village Primary School, based in Church Road, invited Nabih Asit to give a talk to pupils as part of their curriculum work.

They learned what the conditions are like in the Arctic, and what clothes people need to wear to protect themselves from frostbite and other risks associated with the cold.

The children were also able to try the clothes on to see how warm they were, and learned what equipment is needed by explorers to travel around.

Mr Asit was invited to the school as part of its topic work about the polar regions, and to provide stories about his time in the Arctic.

He also taught the youngsters how to plan an expedition to ensure they could find their way around.
