Art student becomes part of latest Aardman film

AN award-winning art and design student will soon see his creations on the latest Aardman film.

Weston College student Matt Mawford, aged 20, created a kitchen scene complete with vegetables and boxes whilst on work experience with the acclaimed Bristol-based animators.

He will see his work in the latest film The Pirates: Band of Misfits, which will be released on March 28.

The student, of Worle High Street, completed a University of the Arts London diploma in art and design at the college and is on an animation degree in Bournemouth.

He said: “It was a fantastic experience while I was at college and helped me make a decision about my degree.

“It would be a dream job to work for Aardman and all thanks to the support I’ve had at college that I’ve got to university to study animation.”

Weston College graphics and illustration lecturer, Jon Swindall, said: “At our Celebration of Success evening Matt was named the most outstanding art and design student.”
