A well-known artist inspired children from a village school when she visited to share her work with them.

Artist and ceramicist Rosie Smith was invited to Uphill Primary School, in Old Church Road, to answer questions about her paintings.

The year two children are looking at the local area as part of their topic about the world around them and were delighted to study Rosie’s original paintings of Weston-super-Mare.

Rosie gave them some lots of tips and advice which they were able to put into practice by using watercolours.

The children asked lots of questions about colour and technique and learnt about the hiustory of the famous Weston donkeys and St Nicholas church.

Pupils will now be visiting the beach to sketch landscapes and refine their skills using watercolours, which Rosie will be returning to view.
