The Ascension Day service at St Andrew’s Church is celebrated by students from the academy every year.

The tradition was brought to the village in the 1880s by the vicar of Magdalen College in Oxford and is held 40 days after Easter to mark Jesus’ ascension to heaven. The students sang Hail The Day and enjoyed the buns in the vicarage gardens.
