A CHILDREN’S author visited the school to give pupils some top tips on writing.

Tracey Corderoy, author of many popular children’s stories, stopped off at St George’s Primary School in Pastures Avenue and spent the day working with the children, inspiring them to be writers.

The day was the first of a full week of literacy events, planned to engage youngsters in all forms of writing, from fictional and fun to instructional and reporting.

Events included a day with the poet Kate Williams, a day of drama and a day of specially-designed workshops hosted by the staff.

The whole school came together with parents and friends to celebrate the children’s writing on the Friday at the end of the week.
