EXCITED children, parents and grandparents welcomed the Bishop of the Clifton Diocese to Corpus Christi Primary School last week.

Bishop Declan Lang opened two new classrooms with a special blessing and prayers.

The classrooms house year one and two children and complete the new builds for foundation stage and key stage one students.

Headteacher Lis Jeffrey said: "The governing body and our previous headteacher, Caroline Hostein, had the vision to renew early years provision at the school and today everyone can celebrate with pride.

"Prior to the buildings, year two children were squashed into temporary accommodation. Moving into the new rooms set them free."

Bishop Declan was given two paintings made by children from the reception classes.
