BUDDING authors at a Weston nursery are set to become published writers.

Four children, aged three to four, have had their short stories selected to be printed in My First Story - Little Gems.

The youngsters, from Busy Bees nursery in Bransby Way, were issued with four themed storyboards to help them get creative and put pen to paper before they wrote their own yarns.

Young Writers launched the competition, sponsored by needtoknowbooks.co.uk, to help develop young children’s creative writing.

Layla Gould, Lucy Selway, Oliver Lock and Ryan Matson all had their stories chosen for publication.

Mark Richardson, editor at Young Writers, said: “My First Story has been a great success and we received thousands of entries from all over the UK.

“Work has been selected for publication based on creativity, imagination and expression, and this is an achievement children should be proud of.

“A copy of the book will be kept at the British Library and further libraries across the UK, providing a lasting record of their achievement.”
