A BUDDING poet has beaten off stiff competition to win a national competition.
Aaron Denyer came out top in the final of SLAMbassadors, a prestigious UK poetry competition.
The 15-year-old, who attends Priory Community School in Queensway, Worle, beat, with a poet name of Icy, about 400 national entries with his 40-second poem Shopping List For The Modern Era, which can be viewed on YouTube.
He has won a weekend trip to launch his professional poetry career at the 100 Club in Oxford Street, London, alongside famous poets.
