THE reporters and photographers of tomorrow are being urged to come forward and join the Weston Barcode youth café press team.

The team is being is formed to publicise the wide range of activities held at The Waterloo Street-based café to other youngsters around the town.

Anyone aged 11-18 and with an interest in journalism, photography or graphic design is being urged to join and have the chance to see their work published.

The team has been organised by café manager Kevin Lilwall and Weston Town Council member Clare Kingsbury-Bell.

Cllr Kingsbury-Bell, a former journalist at the Mercury and editor of Mum’s Diary magazine, said: “It needs to be run by young people as they know more about what other young people would like to read and hear about, but to get it going we can provide them with media training and advice and support.

“Anyone who wants a career in media will have to do work experience, so this is a great way of getting some done early and learning some new skills.”

To find out more you can contact Mr Lilwall on 01934 424365 or email barcodeyouthcafekevin@hotmail.co.uk
