BUDDING young writers have been putting pen to paper as part of an exciting set of lessons.

Castle Batch Primary School in Worle has been running an inspiring boy’s writing project where different groups have been visiting places such as a car dealership, a fire station, Bristol City Football Club’s ground, The Wheel of Weston and The University of the West of England to generate ideas.

The Weston Mercury’s chief reporter, Charlotte Richardson, also visited the students and gave them a lesson in how to be a journalist.

Using her tips and guidance the boys then wrote about a recent school recent appeal which has been raising money for youngsters in Zambia.

The pupils interviewed teachers and children and researched fund-raising initiatives before writing their articles.
