Students were given the chance to enjoy a wide range of new experiences during Working Skills Day.

Year 10 pupils from Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar took part in workshops to try out different skills valued by employers.

The event was in anticipation of work experience placements later this month. Sessions were taken by the Royal Marines, the Royal Air Force and the British Army and local businesses.

Pupils were left enthused about their varied day of experiences which taught them to think beyond the classroom.

A school spokesman said: “We are grateful the day was supported by such an exciting range of employers who generously gave their time to support our young people.”
