Cheddar pupils wore something purple to raise money for a charity personal to them.

Students from Kings Of Wessex Academy donned their best purple gear at the end of spring term to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy Awareness Day.

The students raised £943.46 for SUDEP Action and Epilepsy Action, taking their total to more than £3,600.

Epilepsy is a cause close to the hearts of many students as they still remember former student Johdi who died following an epileptic seizure last October.

Executive headteacher Gavin Ball said: “I am so pleased we could support this year’s Epilepsy Awareness Day to encourage people to think about this condition which can have such dreadful effects.

“We remember Johdi every day but this was one day when we could all be united and show our support by wearing something purple for the day. A moving day, but a meaningful day.”
