AN EYGYPTIAN takeover took place at a North Somerset primary school as part of a hands-on history lesson.

Mummies, Egyptian warriors and even Tutankhamen himself made an appearance as part of the themed event at Winscombe Primary School.

The school’s year four students have been learning about the time period and were given the chance to ditch their school uniform in favour of traditional Egyptian attire.

The children made their own models, Egyptian sandals, mummified themselves and practiced hieroglyphics throughout the day.
