CHILDREN in Wrington have put their weight behind a campaign for gorilla conservation by painting a model of the animal.

Dozens of youngsters at Wrington Primary School painted a life-size gorilla model last week.

It is part of a project by Bristol Zoo to place hundreds of the models in the area to raise awareness of protecting the animal in the wild.

Head teacher Sarah Joskey said: “This is a very exciting project which complements our approach to learning.

“We very much support the conservation work done by Bristol Zoo and education is a very important part of that.”
