Burgeoning musicians from Churchill Academy showcased their skills in a hard-fought competition.

The school hosted its Young Musician Of The Year competition on January 29, as star performers in the making showcased their skills.

Lucy Buncombe claimed the top prize for her vocal performances of Dreaming Wide Awake and Blues In The Night, with Lucy Taylor named runner-up.

Ella Hutchinson, George Skeen and George Derry also walked away with awards.

Headteacher Chris Hildrew said: “I’m proud to see our musicians flourishing; their success is down to the countless hours of practice to perform at their best, showing great determination.

“We also have our wonderful music staff and our ever-present partnership with Churchill Music to thank for these amazing opportunities.

“We’re extremely proud of all the young musicians. They delivered some truly unique performances and it was a privilege to listen.”
