College lecturer sets up barber and skateboarding company

A PRIZE-WINNING skateboarder and Weston College lecturer has set up his own barbers combined with a professional skateboard stockist.

Ben Smart, aged 33, of The Barrows in Locking Castle, Weston launched Smart Barbers in Lower Queen Road, Clevedon and lectures barbering to students part-time at the college in the evening.

He said: “I enjoy lecturing and I’ve wanted to be my own boss for a long time.

“I’ve also skateboarded since I was eight so decided to open a barbers that stocks skateboards, although these customers rarely want their hair cut.”

Ben caters for customers of all ages and styles. He specialises in creating tramlines and tribal patterns into hair.
