A Weston College student will represent the South West in a national apprentice competition after beating 3,000 other entrants to the regional title.

Ben Vanstone is currently studying a level three electrical installation course and has sealed the title of the national electrical apprentice of the year for the South West. But he now hopes to go one better in the national final.

Ben said: “The college has been fantastic, supporting me and helping me every step of the way. I can’t thank the lecturers enough.”

The awards will take place later this month, with the winner set to scoop £2,000.
