A CARTOONIST from a classic childrens’ comic book visited Worle Community School this week as part of their media arts week.

The Beano artist and writer Kev Sutherland shared some of his work with the children and talked to them about working in the media.

Children enjoyed a range of activities aimed at teaching new year seven pupils about media arts.

They also enjoyed a drumming workshop from Drum Crazy and visited Tyntesfield to explore poetry, creative writing and art.

They learned about planning and developing news stories and even made storyboards out of Lego.

Amanda Cottrill, spokesman for the school, said: “Media Arts week is important because our specialism uses a variety of subject areas to deliver aspects of the curriculum in creative ways.

“By having the opportunity to share in some taster sessions, new students to the school can discover what is going to be available to them and how different media skills can support their learning.”
