A COMMONWEALTH gold medallist dropped into a Weston school this week to help pupils in a sports workshop.

Julian Golley, who won the gold medal in the triple jump at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, helped youngsters at Walliscote Primary School in a sponsored challenge to raise money for school sporting events, and to support up and coming athletes.

All the children who completed the challenge of doing spotty dogs (a warm-up exercise using both the arms and legs), press-ups, star jumps and leg drives, raised more than £10 received their very own gold medal.

Julian, who may compete for Great Britain at the London Olympics next year, also performed a triple jump over three members of staff.
