A MUCH-LOVED dinner lady has served her final school dinner after more than 40 years of work at Mendip Green Primary School.

Val Whatley started her role as a lunchtime supervisor in 1973 and has seen hundreds of pupils pass through its halls in the past 42 years.

The school’s headteacher, Bruce Dale said: “A big thank you to Val for her many years of service.

“She has been a caring and conscientious dinner lady.

“She will be missed by everyone here.”
